What's in a pub?

An interesting view of pubs from the current Correspondent's Diary in the Economist. It encouraged me to visit the Orwell essay and return to Hogarths drawings of Gin Lane & Beer Alley, shown below.

The new John Sayles movie was pretty good. I don't think me or the iPod Perv have ever seen a sucky film at South Hill Park. It was a welcome break from all the studying.
