A chat leads to a poem...

Thanks to 'Da Bomb' for tweaking the first stanza. Dzekuje.

'Portrait of a Middle-Class Marriage in the Home Counties'

At the wedding reception -
all blooms and blushes,
she asks you why it is
that you don't say
'I love you'

Interrupting your attempt
to conjure up reasons for not
having staked out a claim
to Mothercare, you decide
to spare her anguished heart.
You find the resolve to stop
facial features distorting into the truth.

It's good to see that cowardice
is alive and well, happily
masquerading as tact.

Decline of love can often be as simple communication breakdown.
There have been times when my marriage isn`t perfect, whatever was strong there before can be strong again it`s upto what you really mean to each other, that really matters, more than anything.
Certainly comming from a divorced background I find breaking up hard to do ,an old Neil Sadaka special what do you mean i`m not that old oh yes you are oh know i`m not ,Socrates and Plato arguing.

Perhaps. However, the portrait was of a real couple (but not autobiographical), and let's just say that things were weakening before the wedding day - and I do not mean infidelity.

Do you remember what Socrates said when he drank the hemlock?

Thanks for commenting.
