The quiet death of journalism

Why is it that no-one is linking the sudden enthusiam with which News Corp execs are looking for evidence of phone tapping at the NoW, with the imminent decision by Jeremy Hunt as to whether to refer New Corp to the Competition Commission?

Cynically? Journalists won't be because I don't believe for a moment that NotW alone of News Corps are the bad apples, and the fact that only The Guardian was following the story demonstrates that other media organisations weren't squeaky clean either.

Labour MPs have been told not to go overboard in case they look "spiteful" over the News Corp competition commision referral, and I suspect because they're hoping to win The Sun back...
